IDLE HOUR began with a love for spaces that feel warm, storied, and intentional where every object invites conversation and comfort. I grew up spending summer holidays on the island of Martha’s Vineyard with my parents and grandparents, and after losing my father, my mother and I dreamed of having our own Vineyard home.

That dream became a reality in 2019, and we began to renovate the house, tearing down walls, stripping old wallpaper, repainting and searching for comfortable, authentic and story-filled pieces for the property.

It was our intention for the house to be decorated entirely with vintage, antique and found pieces (minus a few upholstered items and linens). Our hunt for these beautiful pieces evolved into what is now IDLE HOUR.

Inspired by a creative childhood, global travel, and a deep appreciation for the details that make a house a home, I left a career in finance and my mother retired from her branding and PR agency in 2022 to return to what mattered most: creating beauty with meaning.

Today, IDLE HOUR is a celebration of timeless design, soulful living, and the art of a life well-curated.
