RENTAL POLICY
Rental Policy

IDLE HOUR, LLC ("Idle Hour," "we," "us," or "our") offers set designers, stylists, creative directors, photographers, stagers, production companies, and trade professionals access to our curated collection of vintage, antique, collectible, and decorative furnishings and objects for approved rental use.
Because many items are one-of-a-kind, fragile, antique, or historically significant, all rentals are subject to the following terms and conditions.
By renting from Idle Hour, the renter agrees to all terms outlined below.
1. Rental Eligibility
Rentals are available to qualified:
-
interior designers
-
stylists
-
photographers
-
production companies
-
creative agencies
-
staging professionals
-
approved commercial clients
We reserve the right to approve or decline rental requests at our discretion.
2. Rental Rates & Rental Period
Rental fees are calculated at a flat rate equal to 25% of the item's retail value for a rental period of five (5) consecutive business days, unless otherwise agreed in writing.
Rental periods begin:
-
on the date of pickup, or
-
upon release to the renter's carrier, mover, or agent.
Rental fees are:
-
non-refundable
-
non-transferable
-
not prorated for early return
Partial refunds or credits will not be issued for items returned before the end of the rental term.
3. Late Returns
Rental periods are strictly limited to the agreed rental term.
Items not returned by the agreed return date may, at Idle Hour's sole discretion:
-
incur additional rental charges
-
be deemed purchased
-
be charged up to the full retail replacement value of the item, less rental fees previously paid
No exceptions shall apply unless approved by Idle Hour in writing prior to expiration of the rental term.
4. Holds & Reservations
Rental reservations are not guaranteed until:
-
full rental payment is received, and
-
all required documentation has been approved.
We only guarantee item availability upon confirmed payment.
Because inventory is one-of-a-kind:
-
temporary holds may be granted at our discretion
-
holds are typically limited to 48 hours unless otherwise agreed in writing
-
unconfirmed reservations may be released without notice
5. Pickup, Return & Transportation
Pickup and return are available by appointment only from our Bridgeport, Connecticut showroom or designated location.
We require a minimum of 48 hours advance notice for:
-
pickups
-
returns
-
transportation coordination
All rented items must:
-
be blanket-wrapped during transport
-
be transported safely and professionally
-
be returned in the same condition in which they were released
The renter is responsible for ensuring all movers, carriers, stylists, assistants, production crews, and agents handling the items comply with these requirements.
Idle Hour reserves the right to inspect all items upon return.
6. Risk of Loss & Responsibility
Responsibility and risk of loss transfer to the renter immediately upon:
-
pickup,
-
release to the renter's carrier,
-
release to movers,
-
release to agents,
-
or release to transportation providers acting on the renter's behalf.
The renter assumes full responsibility for:
-
loss
-
theft
-
breakage
-
fire
-
smoke exposure
-
water damage
-
transit damage
-
mishandling
-
vandalism
-
unexplained disappearance
-
environmental exposure
-
third-party conduct
until items are returned to and accepted by Idle Hour in original condition.
7. Condition & Damage Determination
All rented items are provided in existing vintage or antique condition.
Normal signs of age, wear, patina, restoration, and variation are inherent characteristics of vintage and antique goods.
Idle Hour shall determine, in its reasonable discretion, whether an item has sustained:
-
damage
-
excessive wear
-
structural compromise
-
staining
-
finish damage
-
breakage
-
fading
-
odor exposure
-
moisture exposure
-
environmental damage
-
unauthorized repair
-
or other condition changes beyond ordinary approved use.
Repairability shall be determined solely by Idle Hour and/or its designated restoration professionals.
The renter may be charged:
-
repair costs
-
restoration costs
-
cleaning costs
-
loss-of-use fees
-
or up to the full retail replacement value of the item
less any rental fees previously paid.
8. Permitted Use Restrictions
Rented items may not be:
-
altered
-
refinished
-
painted
-
repaired
-
modified
-
disassembled
-
permanently mounted
-
exposed to outdoor weather conditions
-
exposed to excessive sunlight
-
exposed to smoke, animals, moisture, or hazardous materials
without prior written approval from Idle Hour.
Items may only be used for lawful:
-
editorial
-
staging
-
styling
-
photography
-
film
-
production
-
or approved display purposes.
9. Insurance Requirements
A valid Certificate of Insurance ("COI") is required for all rentals.
The COI must:
-
name IDLE HOUR, LLC as additional insured and loss payee where applicable
-
cover the full retail replacement value of rented items
-
remain active throughout the rental period
-
provide primary and non-contributory coverage
Idle Hour reserves the right to reject insufficient insurance documentation.
Failure to provide acceptable insurance documentation may result in cancellation of the rental.
10. Credit Card Authorization
A completed and signed credit card authorization form is required for all rentals.
The renter authorizes Idle Hour to charge the payment method on file for:

unpaid rental fees
-
late fees
-
damage
-
restoration
-
replacement costs
-
cleaning
-
unreturned merchandise
-
or other amounts owed under this agreement.
11. Movers, Agents & Third Parties
The renter is fully responsible for the conduct of:
-
movers
-
stylists
-
assistants
-
production crews
-
photographers
-
contractors
-
carriers
-
agents
-
and any third parties
handling rented items on the renter's behalf.
Damage caused by third parties remains the renter's responsibility.
12. Installation & Placement Disclaimer
Any placement, installation, mounting, assembly, or positioning performed by third parties is conducted entirely at the renter's risk.
Idle Hour is not responsible for:
-
installation quality
-
mounting failure
-
structural compatibility
-
electrical compatibility
-
assembly issues
-
post-installation shifting
-
personal injury
-
property damage
-
or code compliance.
Professional installation is strongly recommended where appropriate.
13. Property Damage & Delivery Conditions
Idle Hour is not responsible for:
-
floor damage
-
wall damage
-
stair damage
-
doorway damage
-
elevator damage
-
property access issues
-
carrier misconduct
-
or damage caused during transportation, delivery, installation, or removal.
The renter is responsible for ensuring:
-
safe delivery conditions
-
lawful site access
-
adequate protection of surrounding property
-
and compliance with building requirements.
14. Customer Handling & Assumption of Risk
Vintage and antique items may be:
-
heavy
-
fragile
-
unstable
-
irregularly balanced
-
constructed according to historical rather than modern standards
The renter assumes responsibility for:
-
handling
-
use
-
placement
-
maintenance
-
supervision
-
transportation
-
and safe operation of rented items.
Idle Hour is not responsible for injuries or damages arising from:
-
misuse
-
improper handling
-
unsafe installation
-
unintended use
-
or failure to secure items appropriately.
15. Freight Claim Cooperation
The renter agrees to cooperate reasonably with any freight, carrier, insurance, or damage claim procedures, including:
-
retaining packaging materials
-
providing photographs
-
permitting inspections
-
signing documentation accurately
-
and assisting with claim processing where required.
Failure to cooperate may limit available remedies or insurance recovery.
16. Shipment Insurance & Limitation of Recovery
Shipment insurance, where available, may be subject to:
-
carrier limitations
-
exclusions
-
valuation methods
-
and claims procedures.
Idle Hour does not guarantee reimbursement for:
-
consequential loss
-
production delays
-
lost revenue
-
project interruption
-
emotional distress
-
installation costs
-
or business losses.
Recovery for shipping-related claims may be limited to amounts recoverable from the applicable carrier or insurer.
17. Unreturned Merchandise
Items not returned may be deemed purchased at Idle Hour's discretion.
The renter authorizes Idle Hour to charge:
-
the remaining retail replacement value,
-
applicable fees,
-
restoration costs,
-
legal fees,
-
and collection expenses
associated with unreturned merchandise.
18. Payment Terms
Invoices must be paid in full before items are released.
Idle Hour reserves the right to:
-
withhold release of merchandise
-
cancel rentals
-
refuse future rentals
-
or pursue collection remedies for unpaid balances.
All rental payments are final and non-refundable.
19. Intellectual Property & Photography
Rental of physical items does not transfer ownership of:
-
trademarks
-
photography
-
branding
-
styling
-
product descriptions
-
or intellectual property.
Idle Hour reserves the right to request photography credit where appropriate.
20. Indemnification
The renter agrees to indemnify and hold harmless IDLE HOUR, LLC and its owners, employees, contractors, affiliates, and representatives from claims, damages, liabilities, losses, costs, and expenses arising from:

rental use
-
transportation
-
handling
-
production activity
-
installation
-
storage
-
third-party conduct
-
property damage
-
personal injury
-
or violation of this Rental Policy.
21. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, IDLE HOUR, LLC shall not be liable for:
-
indirect damages
-
incidental damages
-
consequential damages
-
production interruption
-
lost profits
-
emotional distress
-
business interruption
-
reputational harm
-
or delayed production schedules.
Idle Hour's total liability shall not exceed the amount actually paid for the rental giving rise to the claim.
22. Force Majeure
Idle Hour shall not be liable for delays or inability to perform resulting from events beyond our reasonable control, including:

severe weather
-
labor shortages
-
transportation disruptions
-
carrier delays
-
strikes
-
natural disasters
-
pandemics
-
governmental actions
-
internet or communication failures
-
or supply chain interruptions.
23. Governing Law
This Rental Policy shall be governed by the laws of the State of Connecticut.
Any disputes shall be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Connecticut.
24. Entire Agreement
This Rental Policy constitutes the entire agreement relating to rentals between the parties and supersedes prior discussions or understandings.
25. Severability
If any provision of this Rental Policy is determined unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall remain in full force and effect.
